Conference Registration

Registration for the annual conference is now open. Early bird rates are effective until January 29, 2020. Regular rates are in effect from January 29th until the end of the conference. Participants can register online at any time throughout the end of the conference.

*Participants planning to mail in their registration and payments must ensure that they arrive at the BPD office no later than March 11, 2020.  Registrations not received by that date will be processed as new onsite registrations and individuals will need to register by credit card or at the regular rate. Individuals may opt to bring their registration form and payment with them to the conference for processing onsite.

Ron Federico Memorial Lecture

In keeping with the philosophy and tradition of Ron Federico, proposals should address topics related to the structure, function, purposes, and challenges of undergraduate social work education. To learn more about Ron Federico and view past lectures, please visit our awards page.

The person whose proposal is selected in a refereed review will present their paper in a special invitational session in Birmingham. Conference registration, transportation and one (1) night hotel stay will be provided by BPD for the selected presenter, as well as a $250 honorarium and plaque.

Student Poster Presentation

Attention undergraduate social work students.You are invited to submit proposals for the student poster contest, a part of the student conference during the BPD Annual Conference. Students are encouraged to think broadly about social work and its applicability to a wide range of settings, industries and populations. Posters may address issues of leadership, research, sustainability, history, social justice and human rights, poverty, advocacy, policy or any other area where social work education can be applied.

Proposals will only be accepted from students who are in an undergraduate social work program at the time of the conference. Group proposals are permitted and should include no more than 3 students per proposal.

Wahlberg Memorial Scholarship

This Dean's Scholarship is provided to the recipient of the Jim Wahlberg Award. The selection process is conducted by the Association of Baccalaureate Social Work Program Directors (BPD) and the University of Michigan. The BPD Board of Directors invites all outstanding BSW students to submit a proposal for the 2020 Jim Wahlberg BSW Student Scholar Award. The recipient will present their paper at a special invitation session at the 2021 BPD Conference in Columbus, OH. Conference registration, transportation and a one-night hotel stay will be paid by BPD for the selected presenter as well as a $250.00 honorarium and a plaque. 

Recipients will be eligible for a full tuition Dean's Scholarship in the University of Michigan School of Social Work MSW program.

Students can receive the Wahlberg Scholar Award without entering the University of Michigan School of Social Work, however, the full tuition scholarship requires successful completion of the University of Michigan MSW program application and an offer of admission. The recipient will also need to maintain good academic standing while enrolled in the MSW program at the University of Michigan School of Social Work to maintain the full tuition scholarship. Only one student can be selected as the Jim Wahlberg BSW Student Scholar.
